stuff inside is non-toxic. just a little plastic going in landfill. no different than your water bottle.
just because that stuff looks like toxic waste in cartoons you watch does not mean its that bad. Don’t worry you won’t see mutant puppies.
I don’t think that glow sticks are recyclable. You can put them online either give it away or swap for something else you like with other people. This is my favorite website. Check this out –

They contain chemicals and dye that shouldn’t be released in the environment. The best choice would be to use an alternative like this: http://www.azocleantech.com/details.asp?newsID=6438. So far glow stick manufacturers haven’t provided information on how to recycle them. In my area, glow sticks aren’t listed as something that you can bring to a waste facility as hazardous waste. Since there isn’t a good way to dispose of them, the environmentally-friendly choice is not to use them at all.
